Privacy Policy
The short version: VidVertex is a desktop app. Your content, brands and schedules are stored on your machine. Posting, cloud transfers and optional AI features send the relevant data to the services you connect. We run no content servers of our own. This website doesn't set tracking cookies and runs no analytics.
The website
- Hosting: Netlify (server logs — IP address, timestamp, requested page — are processed by Netlify, Inc. to deliver the site and to keep it secure and available; see Netlify's privacy statement). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in delivering a working, secure website, which we weighed against your interests: the logs are technical, we don't profile you, and retain information only for delivery, security and troubleshooting as needed. Netlify's own processing and retention are described in its privacy statement; we do not promise a fixed deletion period for its platform records.
- No tracking cookies, no analytics, no embedded third-party content. The site's fonts (Inter, JetBrains Mono) are served from vidvertex.com itself — nothing is loaded from Google Fonts or any other font service.
- Contact: if you email support@vidvertex.com, we process your address and message to answer you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for support around a purchase or a pre-contractual request, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We retain correspondence while handling the enquiry and any related dispute. Records subject to statutory retention duties are kept for the applicable period under Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR; other correspondence is deleted when no longer needed for these purposes.
The app
- Local project files: videos, stacks, brands, captions and schedules are stored on your device. We do not receive them merely because you use the app. You control deletion of local files and backups. The following features involve data transfers; material you send to support also reaches us.
- License checks: activating your license sends your license key, your computer name and a device fingerprint to Lemon Squeezy (our merchant of record and license provider); later validation checks send the license key and the activation id that activation returned. Purchases, invoices and the customer portal are handled by Lemon Squeezy under their privacy policy. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — without this check we cannot provide the licensed software you bought. License and activation records are needed while your license is in use and, where necessary, afterwards to handle payment disputes, prevent abuse or meet legal retention duties. Lemon Squeezy separately retains purchase and payment records under its own privacy policy.
- Posting: when you schedule posts, the app talks directly from your machine to the services you configured — Zernio, Metricool and/or Google Drive — using your own accounts and keys. On the Zernio route, files larger than 4 MB are uploaded with your own token to Vercel Blob, the storage Zernio uses for media. On the Metricool routes, Google Drive is only the transfer vehicle: the file is shared as "anyone with the link" so Metricool can fetch it, which means it is publicly reachable for as long as that sharing permission remains active. The app attempts to delete its Drive copy after the transfer; deletion can fail. Settings → Storage lists remaining files so you can remove them. Deleting a Drive copy does not delete a post or the recipient's copy. Their processing is governed by their own policies: Zernio, Metricool, Vercel, Google.
- Optional AI features: if you add your own AI or TTS key, the app sends the relevant material (briefings, key frames of your clip, caption lines, hook texts) directly to the provider you chose — and, with providers that can process audio, a short audio excerpt of the clip. No key, no sending — caption transcription is fully local. The speech model it transcribes with ships with the app; if you pick a larger one, the app downloads it once from huggingface.co.
- AI assistants (MCP): if you connect the app to an assistant — Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cowork or Codex, through Settings → Integrations or by pointing an MCP client at the app yourself — that assistant can read and write your project data through our local interface. Everything it reads to do its job (stack contents, transcripts, post texts, frames of your rendered videos) is potentially forwarded by that client to its AI provider under that provider's terms and privacy policy, depending on the client and model you use. We do not receive or store that exchange, but your assistant's provider may receive it. No assistant connected, no forwarding.
- Update checks: once after start and then daily, the app asks our update service (a small service we run on Cloudflare Workers) whether a newer version exists. The request carries your license key, the activation id and the version you are running, so that only licensed installs receive the download link; our update service passes the key to Lemon Squeezy for validation. The answer is a version number and a short-lived download link. We do not store the license key: it is used to validate your license and, in hashed form only, as the counter key for rate limiting (kept for minutes, not days). Automatic per-request invocation logging is disabled in our update service. Operational messages report errors and product identifiers, without deliberately logging license keys or request bodies. Cloudflare may separately process connection metadata, including your IP address, to operate and secure its infrastructure under its privacy policy. License validation is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR; abuse prevention and troubleshooting on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in protecting the service. Nothing installs without your click.
- Crash logs are written locally on your machine and are not transmitted.
Transfers outside the EU/EEA
Some of the services above are operated from the United States: Netlify, Inc. (hosting), Cloudflare, Inc. (update service), Lemon Squeezy, LLC (purchases and licensing) and Google LLC (Google Drive, if you use it). Their privacy policies describe their international processing and safeguards. The EU-US Data Privacy Framework can cover transfers only to a currently certified recipient and within that certification's scope. Standard Contractual Clauses apply only where incorporated into the relevant agreement; they do not apply automatically. Contact support@vidvertex.com for information on safeguards applicable to the processing we arrange and how to obtain a copy. For AI and posting services you connect yourself, check the provider's locations, retention settings and transfer safeguards before sending personal data.
Optional services and information you provide
You choose whether to connect posting services, AI providers or an assistant. Disabling a connection prevents future use through that connection, but does not erase data already received by a provider. Use that provider's controls to manage its copies. Without a license key we cannot activate the paid app; without the necessary contact information we may be unable to answer an enquiry. We do not use your information for advertising profiles or automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Your rights
As a user in the EU/EEA you have the following rights regarding personal data we process: access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21), subject to each right's legal conditions. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. In practice that's essentially the support mailbox and the license/update records, since the app keeps your content with you. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU/EEA country where you live, where you work, or where you believe the infringement took place.
